AziCCUL Is Moving Ahead And Never To Turn Back-Divine Nde

The President General of Azire Co-operative Credit Union Limited who was elected Saturday February 26, 2022 has told members of AziCCUL and would be members that the financial institution is moving forward and never to turn back. 

Barrister Divine Nde Momuluh  was speaking to the press shortly after his overwhelming election as President General of one of the renowned microfinance in Cameroon during a highly contested election which happened during the Union's 53rd Annual General Assembly Meeting.

"I will first of all thank the cooperators for their confidence bestowed me. It is not strange because the results are clear but one thing I want to say is that, I think about the future of the Union for them. We want to build Azire Co-operative Credit Union to stand the taste of   time. It will therefore be my biggest wish at the end of this mandate to make AziCCUL something that is unimaginable", said barrister Divine Nde.

Quizzed on how he convinced the over 80 percent members who cast their vote in his favour, the legal mind said he does not have any secret in winning the election but hard work and commitment. He explained that, the world is becoming a digital system and AziCCUL will join soon with the functioning of the E-baking system.

"We want to meet with the rest of the world in digitalization. AZiCCUL will soon join the E-banking system to facilitate transactions within and out of the Union for members", he assured.  He will be assisted as vice president by Mrs Che Mirabel.  

The election conducted by  RECCUCAM witnessed the election of other board members namely; Mumbari Joseph, Nji Sylvanus, Tumasang Solomon, and Fortu Nixen.

The 53rd Annual General Meeting of AziCCUL saw the dismissal of Dr Nche George Ndifor-Angwafor and four other members of the union accused of going contrary to the union's norms and ethics. He is said to have attempted to split the credit union to create his, baptised "Progressive AziCCUL". His membership termination was arrived at during the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board meeting that took place on November 26, 2021, and was tabled for a vote in the General Assembly which the majority of the members voted for.

For his one year at the helm of AziCCUL,  Bar. Divine Nde despite the Covid-19 pandemic, coupled with the socio-political crisis, AziCCUL has improved drastically both financially and membership wise.

The Union's Net Balance Sheet increased from 37 billion 829 million francs CFA in 2020 to 42 billion 523 million Francs CFA in 2021.  The cooperative today counts a membership of 52000 and has increased interest on saving to 4% in 2022  against 2% in 2021.

AziCCUL created in 1968 with the main mission to alleviate poverty today counts 12 functional branch offices in Cameroon with three new to go operational soon in Buea, Limbe and the Douala central market.
